morning. this is the new place and i'm glenn, i set it up and for a while i'm the one who moves your posts around.

three boards. Owner operator talk is the money and the road: authority or leased on, rates, lanes, weather, which pass is closed. Engines, DOT and maintenance is everything that happens with a wrench or a clipboard, inspections included. the buying board is for the number on your bill of sale and where the truck came from, whether that was a dealer, a fleet trade, a guy in a parking lot or a bank repo.

house rules, the short version:

  • put the truck in your first line. year, make, model, engine, trans and roughly the miles. "my pete is smoking" gets you nothing. "2019 389, X15, 1.1 million, white smoke on a cold start at 10 degrees" gets you four answers by lunch.
  • say what you paid when you post on the buying board. the numbers are the reason that board exists.
  • if you recruit for a carrier, sell insurance, do factoring, work at a dealer or run a brokerage, say so in your posts. we won't delete you for it. we will delete you for hiding it.
  • no load posts and no driver wanted posts. there are a thousand places for those.
  • no ELD mandate politics. it has been the law since december 2017 and a thread here won't move it an inch.

accounts are by email request, the contact page has the address. i read it before my first load most mornings and on the weekend when i'm home.

glad somebody built one of these without a factoring banner across the top. i dispatch four owner operators out of the spare bedroom in Omaha, flatbed and step deck, after nineteen years of driving that my lower back finally ended.

one ask for the rules. can paperwork for a truck somebody just bought go on the buying board too? most of the panicked calls i get from guys in their first year are about IRP and the 2290 and nobody ever knows where to ask.

yes. paperwork for a truck you just bought goes in Buying and auctions. paperwork for a truck you've had a while, IFTA quarters, the annual inspection, UCR every year, goes in the shop board with the inspection talk. pick wrong and i'll move it and leave a note where it was. nobody gets yelled at for that.

and since you brought it up: the 2290 is due at the end of august for most of you, every single year, and somebody will still ask about it in october.
