Runs2020 Cascadia 126 raised roof, DD15, DT12 / dry van, own authority
2020 Freightliner Cascadia 126 with the 72 inch raised roof sleeper, DD15 and DT12, 512,000 miles. dry van, own authority since late august, home is Atlanta.
i'd been watching conaways since july, and the 389 thread got me to write mine up, since mine went a different way. i didn't win a sealed bid. i lost two of them in august, both Cascadias, both to numbers i'll never see because nobody sees anybody's bid. no idea if i missed by 200 dollars or 20,000.
third one i stopped guessing. 61,900 Buy Now on it and i clicked it. that's the whole price, there's no premium on top of a Buy Now either. lender yard in Jacksonville, Florida, 346 miles to my place, so delivery was free. the listing was on Conaway's Auto Sales with 60 some photos.
i paid cash. sold my old 2014 Cascadia to a guy in Macon for 24,000 and the rest came out of six years of saving as a company driver.

here's my problem with Buy Now on a blind auction. how do you know the number isn't padded? on a sealed bid at least you set your own price and live with it. on a Buy Now the lender set it, and the lender wants their money back.

Runsoff the truck, dispatches four owner operators
DT12 at 512k, i'd want to know where the clutch is. it's automated, but it's still a clutch and it still wears. Detroit's diagnostic software will show clutch wear as a percentage, so any shop with DiagnosticLink can read it in five minutes.
and on the DD15 with the one box aftertreatment, ask for the DPF cleaning history. a lot of fleet trucks get it done on a schedule and there's a sticker or an invoice somewhere.

memphis, i checked before i clicked. three 2020 126s with the raised roof and similar miles were 69 to 74 thousand on dealer lots in Georgia and Tennessee that month, plus doc fees. 61,900 wasn't a steal, it was fair, and i was done losing bids.
dispatch, the shop read 41 percent clutch remaining. DPF sticker on the frame rail says cleaned at 408k.
one problem the first week. the DT12 threw a fault and wouldn't select a gear one morning at 28 degrees. air leak at a push to connect fitting on the transmission air supply. an 11 dollar fitting and twenty minutes once the shop found it.
and the honest part about the warranty. conaway's limited warranty is six months, but it also stops at 10k miles, and the miles get there first on anything that works for a living. i hit 10k in five weeks. so on a road truck it's really about a five week warranty, and you should read it that way going in. the 30 day money back covers a truck that wasn't what the listing said, and it starts the day it's delivered. mine was what it said.

DT12 at 500k doing mountain work, i'd still want my 18 speed. but i'll admit the automated trucks get better fuel mileage for most drivers than most drivers get out of a manual, me included some days. what are you averaging?

question nobody asks about trucks from the conaways people: how was the sleeper? a fleet truck out of a lender yard, was it a smoker's truck? that's the one thing i can't tell from photos and it's what i'd mind most living in it.

not smoke. dog. a big one, from the hair in the vents. ozone treatment was 120 dollars and a new mattress was 290, and now it smells like a truck again. would i buy through the conaway auction again? yes, with 500 set aside for the sleeper.
eighteen, 7.4 average over 21,000 miles, mostly flat Southeast miles, so take that with salt.
january was as slow as dispatch said in the other thread. 7,100 miles this month. his two brokers kept me moving though.
